What is General Ability?
General Ability (G.A.) refers to a child's ability to think critically, quickly and accurately. It is often referred to as General
Aptitude or IQ (Intelligence Quotient). They all refer to much the same thing.
G.A. testing provides an indication of intellectual aptitude that is important for both academic performance and assessment. Candidates are assessed on their ability to demonstrate general knowledge, thinking, reasoning and problem solving
skills through a variety of items that involve verbal reasoning, abstract reasoning, spatial-visual and quantitative reasoning. These are fundamental concepts that underpin General Ability type questions.

The General Ability Trial Test (GATT) is a 50 week preparatory program designed to assist students who are seeking
placement in a Selective High School.

How it works?
Each week, students will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the format and content of the General Ability
Selective School Test. They will spend 40 minutes completing the G.A. test papers, and have answers and solutions fully
explained in the remaining time.
Care has been taken to ensure the exam format and questions are consistent to that expected in the actual Selective High
School test, thereby giving students the confidence to respond positively to the actual test.
In addition, computerised student reports are produced weekly for careful monitoring of student progress, hence providing a close indication of their performance in the actual Selective High School Test.
